300 BJJ gis, rashguards, spats, and shorts

300 was released in 2006 and revolutionized the way that comic books would be adapted to the big screen. It was based on the awesome 1998 comic book by Frank Miller and Lynn Varley. It was filmed using the super-imposition chroma key technique which made the pictures from the comic really come alive. The story retells the Battle of Thermopylae between Persia and Greece during the Persian Wars, and was directed by Zack Snyder. King Leonidas leads 300 Spartan beefcakes against the invading army of god-king Xerxes and his 300,000 strong army. Of course we all know who won that battle.

The film ended up achieving massive success, grossing over $450 million at the box office. It’s sequel, 300: Rise of An Empire, was based on Frank Miller’s unpublished graphic novel Xerxes, and was released on March 7, 2014.

Gremlins BJJ rashguards, spats, and gis

Anyone who was lucky enough to be around in the early 80’s undoubtedly remembers Gremlins, the 1984 Steven Spielberg horror/ comedy. It’s the story about Gizmo, a cute little Mogwai voiced by Howie Mandel, and his not-so-cute friends who appear if they’re accidentally fed after midnight. Gremlins was followed up by a not quite as good sequel in 1990, and has gone on to become part of our pop-culture.

Superman BJJ gis, rashguards, spats, and shorts. All officially licensed!

Superman, an American Cultural icon, first introduced us to what a superhero was when he made his debut in Action Comics # 1 in 1938. He was the very first to don a cape, to wear boots, to have a shield pronounced prominently on his chest, and to wear his underwear on the OUTSIDE of his pants. Prior to Supes, everyone wore their underwear on the inside…crazy!!!!

The Superman (as he was originally known) was created by Jerry Siegel, and Joel Shuster, buddies going to high school and living in Cleveland, Ohio.

Superman invented the modern day superhero, and popularized comic books in the early 1940’s. The story of the planet Krypton, Clark Kent, Lois Lane the Daily Planet in Metropolis, and his arch nemesis Lex Luthor is more like our history than mythology now.

IGN labeled Superman the #1 comic book hero of all time, and we can’t really argue with them.

Batman BJJ gis, rashguards, spats, and shorts. All officially licensed.

The Caped Crusader. The Dark Knight. No matter how you refer to Batman, after 75 years of existence, he has become an important part of our cultural fabric. The “Bat-Man” fist appeared in Detective Comics #27 back in May, 1939. He was created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger, and is now very much an icon in our society.

Bruce Wayne’s Gotham City foes have also gained some major street cred over the years; The Joker, Penguin, Riddler, Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Bane, and the list goes on and on.

IGN named Batman #2 in the top 100 comic book heroes of all time, right behind none other than his DC Comics counterpart, good ‘ol Superman.

Whether you’re a fan of the 1960’s campy Adam West Batman, or the slightly darker Tim Burton 1989 Batman, each version has something for everybody. Except maybe the George Clooney Batman from 1997’s disastrous Batman and Robin movie. That was just plain awful.
