Friday the 13th is the most successful horror film franchise of all time. 12 awesome slasher movies were made in total, along with a TV show, comic books, and tons of merch. Overall, the films did over $465 m at the box office. The plot was pretty simple; Jason Voorhees drowns at Crystal Lake as a young boy, and then comes back and makes everyone pay for it. Jason and his iconic hockey mask and machete are now part of pop-culture, instantly identifiable even if you've never wasted 2 hours watching one of the movies.
