Voltron: Defender of the Universe is an animated TV series that originally ran in syndication from 1984 to 1985, featuring a team of explorers that cruise around in space inside a giant mega robot know as Voltron. Season 1 was adapted from the Japanese anime TV show Beast King GoLion.  Season 2 was adapted from the anime series Armored Fleet Dairugger XV. Voltron could also be found in the pages of 1980's comic books, and had their very own toy line from Matchbox.
